Luis Enrique

He has been a coach for the past 14 years, coaching some big teams like Barcelona and Roma. He has won multiple tournaments as a manager, such as two La Ligas, the 2015 Champions League, and the Club World Cup. Luis Enrique is famed for using his 4-3-3 formation, dating back to his early coaching days. He took over as Spain manager in 2019 and coached a very young squad to the semi-finals of Euro 2020. He is known for providing opportunities to youngsters and will be one of the most experienced managers at the World Cup. Let’s see what Mr. La Masia is going to show us.

Hansi Flick

Flick started his coaching career in 1996 and has worked as an assistant coach at Salzburg, Germany, and Bayern Munich until finally becoming the Bayern manager and leading them to win the sextuple in 2020, only achieved once before by any club in Europe. He was also the assistant coach of Germany when they won the 2014 World Cup and will surely add the winning mentality to this Germany squad. He has been the German coach since 2021 and will look to turn the team around after their abysmal exit in 2018.

TITE

Tite has been managing clubs since 1991 and is one of the most experienced managers at the World Cup. He has mainly managed teams in South America and the Middle East and has been the Brazilian manager since 2016. He has won multiple domestic titles and won the Copa America with Brazil in 2019. It will be interesting to see how TITE manages this star-studded Brazilian line-up, managing the game time and opportunities of multiple big names. His long stint with Brazil should mean that we will see a definite pattern and style of play from this squad. He also won the Club World Cup in 2012, which is like finding a needle in a haystack for a South American team.

World cup

Gareth Southgate

Gareth Southgate has been England manager since 2016 and has successfully managed to take England to the Euro final and a World Cup semi-final. He prefers to use the 3-at-the back system, alternating between a 3-4-3 and a 3-4-2-1 formation. Lately, he has experimented with the 4-3-3 tactic but hasn’t seen much success with it. Southgate has been in the middle of multiple debates where half the fans want him out due to poor performances and underutilization of players in the recent past, and the other half want him to stay as he has done more than any other England manager has done in decades. Southgate has looked to solve the biggest problem with the English side, which was the club vs. country debate that occurred amongst players. There seems to be unison in the squad, which looks like it enjoys playing as a unit.

World cup

Didier Deschamps

The French manager is a World Cup winner as a manager and a player. He won the 2018 World Cup with France as their manager and preferred to use a four-at-back system. He has been trying his hand at the 3-at-the back system, but it looked to have failed in the recent nation’s league. Deschamps has announced that he will opt to go with four at the back this World Cup. Although he will go into the World Cup with loads of confidence, he has his fair share of problems to deal with in terms of injuries to multiple starters like Kante, Pogba, Kimpembe, Benzema, and Nkunku. He will have to manage the squad well and ensure the team stays fit for the tournament.

Didier deschamps

Fernando Santos

Santos is one of the most underrated managers at the tournament. He won the Primeira Liga with Porto in 1998–99 and has won multiple individual awards as a manager for clubs and countries. He is one of the longest-serving managers at the World Cup, having been with Portugal since 2014. With the national side, he won the Euros in 2014 and the nation’s league in 2018–19. This shows that his achievements were not short-lived or based on form or momentum; rather, he has been building a side over the past 8 years. Santos Portugal has always played free-flowing football, mostly employing a three-at-the back system. He likes to build his team around talisman Ronaldo, and that has worked very well for the national side.
