We hope we have been helpful in our last two blogs covering everything about Sports Analysis! In this part, we’ll be covering the ideal packages sports analysts get and the top universities in India and Abroad.

Let’s get down to it:

Sports analytics

The average income for a sports analyst in India is roughly Rs. 7,00,000 per year, according to websites such as AmbitionBox and Glassdoor. Data analytics is a rapidly expanding field, and its use will continue to expand. The application of analytics will grow exponentially as teams and organizations continue to benefit from the insights it gives. Analytics is a vital tool for sports companies, whether it is to improve performance, create a better viewer experience, or reduce the chance of injury.

Of course, this varies depending on criteria such as experience, geography, and the type of company for which you work.

If you wish to work for a top-tier sports organization, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), you should expect to earn far more than the average. According to AmbitionBox, sports analysts in the IPL can earn up to Rs. 20,00,000 per year! That’s a pretty good deal, especially given how prestigious it would be to work for such a well-known company.

Sports analytics positions are available with sports clubs, leagues, and professional firms. Graduates can also look for work with third-party suppliers who specialize in offering these services to sports firms. Sports analysts are employed by news organizations such as ESPN and Sports Illustrated to assist with reporting and analysis, which is used to create on-air and online content for viewers. The NBA relies substantially on data analytics, with almost all clubs employing full-time Sports Analysts to assist with coaching and front-office decisions. The Golden State Warriors are a great example of a franchise that has used Sports Analytics to boost player performance.

Even if you’re just starting, you may still make decent money as a sports analyst. According to Glassdoor, entry-level analysts might earn roughly Rs. 3,00,000 per year, which is still a good starting salary. Furthermore, as you gain more experience and develop your skills, you can expect your salary to rise.

You’ll need to be well-versed in the sport you’re analyzing, as well as possess excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail. It’s important to remember that working in sports analysis isn’t all about the money. It’s a labor of love that demands a lot of hard work and passion for your job! However, if you are up for the challenge, it can be an extremely rewarding career.

Some of the biggest sports analytics companies in India are:

College is a special experience, it is everything you need to grow and prepare to enter the real world! It’s the time you meet people make connections, discover more about yourself, make decisions, and learn to fight things alone. It is also the place where you can explore topics, subjects, and fields outside of your academics and cultivate a hobby. If sports is something you are interested in then college sports is a wonderful place to start, has its competitors but is also the perfect prep for the international level.

Since the number of sports offered has also increased you may have an array of choices like-  Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, Cricket, Golf, Tennis, Chess, Football, etc. depending on where you reside, your options may or may not be limited. You can research your college websites or talk to the coaches about your skills, interests, and what works best for you!

What exactly are college Varsity sports?

  • It is where the student represent their university
  • Competes against other collegiate teams
  • Receive some financial support from their college’s athletic department
  • And they must fulfill all academic requirements in order to receive and preserve their athletic scholarships

Being a college athlete is demanding, gratifying, exhausting, and enjoyable all at the same time. It can also take your attention away from the main goal of college: academics and earning a degree. Student-athletes must be able to do it all, which means they must excel in their classes while still excelling in their sports if they plan to play throughout college. If you don’t plan on making a career out of your sport, college is the final time you can really compete at something you enjoy before giving it up entirely or joining a low-key seasonal adult league outside of work. If you want to be a, playing in college can be your ticket to the big leagues.

What are the advantages of participating in collegiate sports?

  • It assists you in getting good at time management
  • Helps you improve your leadership abilities
  • It can build your communication abilities
  • It can aid in your physical development
  • You meet people who share your interests
  • You can play your favorite sport in your leisure time
  • You have a chance of receiving an athletic scholarship
  • You have a higher chance of getting scouted to play in bigger leagues

Apart from all this, college sports give you a hands-on experience of what playing a professional sport would be like! You have a chance to upskill yourself, practice, and become better at what you do.  College athletics requires participants to grow. Every one of these scenarios requiring growth will play out in the workplace. Excellent leadership results in increased performance, promotions, bonuses, and a higher sense of success. Leadership developed through collegiate athletics is an exception when compared to the overall population in jobs.

Confidence is a key factor in determining work success. It is quite difficult to complete the responsibilities of any work without confidence. It can be inculcated by maintaining your word to yourself.

College athletics foster confidence in many ways: One approach is when you see a risky position, one in which you could fail and are afraid, but you go for it nevertheless. When you are terrified but still take the risk, your confidence increases! The outcome of the risk is not always important but being courageous is sometimes the best thing you can do!

Learning how to handle pressure, create and achieve goals, face adversity, and embrace competition are all part of creating a competitive attitude through collegiate athletics. These abilities are beneficial not only in sports but also in the business world. Individuals with a competitive mindset perform to the best of their abilities, deal with stress, and stay focused on their goals. Student-athletes can build a resilient, focused, and confident mindset through collegiate athletics, which will help them thrive in jobs of the future.

Student-athletes can benefit greatly from the networking opportunities provided by college sports. They can connect with coaches, alumni, and fellow players through participating in sports. After graduation, these contacts can help open doors to career prospects. Coaches and alumni, for example, may be able to provide job leads or mentorship and career assistance.

Furthermore, student-athletes may form advantageous connections with other athletes who have similar interests and career goals. Networking is an important part of professional success, and college athletics can assist student-athletes to acquire this skill early on. Student-athletes can broaden their professional networks, gain access to job possibilities, and lay a solid basis for their future by developing relationships within their sports community.

In the grand scheme of things, your college years are a blip on the radar. Making the most of your college experience will leave you with wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. College athletes have the advantage of actively participating to make a difference in their chosen sport. Furthermore, friendships with coaches and other players are formed as a result of working together as a team. Because you’ve been “through the fire” of collegiate competition, you’ll have lasting friends on whom you can rely for years.

There are so many benefits to playing in college, and it does not matter if you are just starting to play a sport or if you are there to gain more experience. The learnings are of course more than just limited to your career but an overall growth in your personality as well. If you are someone who enjoys sports, then we would definitely recommend playing sports at college!

Youth Sports

Are you curious about the significance of sports in your child’s life? Sports offer more than just a fun way to stay active; they provide a wide range of physical, mental, and social benefits that contribute to your child’s overall development. From fostering healthy habits to instilling important life skills, sports play a crucial role in shaping your child’s character and well-being. Today, parents do their utmost to ensure their child gets the best of the best in every facet of life, from schooling to extracurricular activities, They choose what will benefit the kid. In line with that, we all know how important it is to involve children in sports from a young age. It may not be in a full-time capacity or with a goal to become a professional player, but to have some physical activity regularly, for social and cognitive development, etc.

Children who engage in regular physical activity may strengthen their bones and muscles, improve their general coordination, and boost their cardiovascular health. Additionally, playing sports helps them stay active, which lowers their risk of obesity and related health problems, which we all know are more prominent than we like it to be!

Beyond physical fitness, sports are essential for children’s mental health. As kids establish and achieve goals, overcome challenges, and see their growth, sports participation helps them build self-confidence and self-esteem. As kids learn to push themselves and strive for growth, sports help them develop resilience, persistence, and discipline. Their sense of achievement in athletics improves their self-confidence and carries over into other aspects of their lives.

So, whether it’s kicking a soccer ball, shooting hoops, or swimming laps, encouraging kids to participate in sports can contribute significantly to their holistic development and well-being. Now that we have discussed the many reasons sports must be a part of your child’s life, let’s look into the common misconceptions people have about youth sports! We are here to bust those myths and help your child achieve their maximum potential in the sport of their liking.

Myth #1: Youth sports are about winning solely

Youth Sports

In youth sports, focusing solely on winning can have a negative impact on children’s overall development. When winning becomes the only goal, it can create a hyper-competitive environment that puts too much pressure on young athletes. This tension, worry, and even burnout might cause individuals to lose interest in sports.

Prioritizing skill development, on the other hand, allows them to concentrate on personal growth and progress. Youth sports give a platform for children to learn and enhance their abilities by concentrating on the development of core skills, technique, and sportsmanship. This emphasis fosters a growth mentality in which mistakes and setbacks are viewed as chances for learning and progress rather than failures.

Myth #2: Parents coaching their child is the best option

Youth Sports

It is not easy for anyone to transition from one role to another quickly and effectively, so having a parent as a coach may not always be the best option. Factors like favoritism or pressure on their relationship play a key role in this.  The parent-coach may need to switch roles and separate personal emotions from coaching decisions, which can be demanding for both the parent and the child. The athlete may face performance pressure or the pressure to be their best at all times in front of the parent.

A coach-player relationship is a lot different than that of a parent-child, one needs to win at all costs, while the other focuses on their growth over anything else.  The tables may sometimes turn, and instead of strengthening their bond, it may leave some cracks that will take time to mend.  But it also not completely impossible for a parent to help their child become better at their game. If clear boundaries, expectations, and roles are set, then there are ways a parent can be a part of their games. Give it a shot, but don’t be disappointed if it isn’t the amazing time you hoped for.

Myth #3:  Youth sports are only for the athletically gifted

Youth Sports

How many times have we heard kids say they are not fit enough for a sport or that their height, body, and strength are not enough for a game? Well, this is definitely a myth people love believing and using as an excuse. Any child who enjoys sports of any kind can participate and play, even at the professional level. Yes, they may need extra practice to hone their skills, but it’s not impossible. Sports for children of all skill levels and backgrounds should be inclusive and accessible. The emphasis should be on providing an atmosphere that fosters participation, skill development, and enjoyment for all children, regardless of their inherent talent.

If your child likes any particular sport and would like to pursue it, maybe just for fun or to improve their skills then we have you covered. Reach out to us here and get their journey started!

So what do youth sports guarantee? Well, it promises your child an amazing time doing what they love, building their character, and an all-around physical-emotional-cognitive growth!

Sports & Fitness Enthusiasts

In a world that is made with more social relations than humans, it is obvious that influencers play a huge role in ‘what’, ‘how’, and ‘where’ we buy, do, and find things! We often don’t realize if we chose something out of our personal liking or just because some influencer has managed to influence us. Those 10 ads on every YouTube video we see or between our television shows keep hounding us to buy this, do that, go here, believe them, and lose our ability to judge.  Social media today has created a farce of what is good or bad, right or wrong, perfect or imperfect, and clouded our judgment.

Those airbrushed photos or unrealistic diet plans are not practical for the layman, they have set beauty standards no one can achieve. This can lead to body image issues, self-esteem problems, and unhealthy approaches to exercise and dieting. The constant exposure to highlight reels and curated content on social media can create an atmosphere of comparison and self-doubt for Gen Z. Seeing others’ seemingly flawless fitness journeys can make them feel inadequate or discouraged about their own progress. This can result in a lack of motivation, diminished self-confidence, and even the abandonment of sports and fitness pursuits.

Sports & Fitness Enthusiasts

The emphasis on likes, comments, and shares has caused people to forget what real and authentic content is, a few dollar bills, and they seem to change their tune about anything! Fad diet plans to weight-loss gummies seem to work well with their bodies. Instead of focusing on a healthy body and lifestyle, they preach the importance of looking thin and fit.

Gymming has become the new cultural norm, gone are the days of playing a sport or doing yoga to stay active and fit. It’s all about those 6 pack abs or biceps that nobody but them cares about! In the sports and fitness worlds, social media can be an ideal breeding ground for misinformation and harmful practices. Influencers with limited knowledge or false credentials may advocate dangerous training techniques, quick-fix solutions, or fad diets. Gen Z, who are looking for advice and inspiration, may fall, victim, to these misleading messages, jeopardizing their well-being and long-term health.

‘‘According to a report by GlobalWebIndex, 98% of Gen Z consumers have a social media account, and they spend an average of 2 hours and 22 minutes daily on social media platforms.’

Influencer marketing is growing as an effective strategy for product marketing managers seeking to draw in Gen Z customers. Influencers, who are social media celebrities with a huge following and a substantial influence on their followers’ behaviour, give product marketing managers a more practical and relatable means to connect and interact with customers. However, their Ads may not always be real or authentic, it is different to use a product and to market it. How many influencers who promote a certain product or brand actually use it themselves?

Sports & Fitness Enthusiasts

There are of course many athletes who promote endorsed brands on their social media however most of them do not use them. Brands like Nike, Puma, and Adidas get the best of the best to promote their companies and products, most often athletes. Their campaigns are however much better planned, structured, and inclusive than those of social media influencers.  There are many influencers who try and be as authentic as they can be on social media, they share both the pretty and ugly, good and bad, reel and real! And to be honest, that bit of real, raw, unfiltered truth is what helps them grow. Influencers and online communities also introduce Gen Z to new sports and fitness trends. Through their content, they showcase various activities, workouts, and challenges that capture their attention. Whether it’s a viral dance routine on TikTok, a new workout regimen on YouTube, or a fitness challenge on Instagram, these platforms expose Gen Z to a wide range of sports and fitness options they might not have considered otherwise.

Influencers and online communities also help break down barriers and promote inclusivity in sports and fitness. They advocate for body positivity, diversity, and acceptance, challenging traditional stereotypes and standards. By embracing individuals of all shapes, sizes, genders, and abilities, they inspire Gen Z to participate in sports and fitness activities without fear of judgment or exclusion.

Sports & Fitness Enthusiasts

The goal is not to get those 6-pack abs, or round booty but to stay fit and healthy, not fall sick regularly, building your strength and metabolism. It is crucial you set your goals for the right reason and make them realistic, nobody is going to get abs just from crunches!

In the end, what sort of content you consume is directly proportional to how it impacts your mind, beliefs, and body! If you are likely to get influenced to eat/drink or do something with just one post or story then it is important you take a look at your social media. Consciously choose to follow those who create a positive impact in your life, and make an effort to change in ways that will benefit you. Pick up a sport to add more physical activity in everyday life, and work out so you feel those endorphins, and not because some profile on social media managed to sway you their way!

Are you passionate about sports and eager to pursue a career in the thrilling world of the sports industry? Landing an internship in the sports industry can be a pivotal step toward turning your passion into a profession. Sports internships allow you to work in a specialized industry in a role that engages and excites you.

Since there are multiple careers in professional sports, internship possibilities are many and diversified. You can obtain additional experience by finding an internship that is closely related to your subject of study. Each sports intern is assigned different duties based on their area of expertise. A sports management intern, for example, may assist with team organization and travel planning for away games. A marketing intern, on the other hand, may develop material for the team’s social media pages. During each game, an intern analyst may keep track of each player’s game stats.

However, it may not be as easy as it seems to get an internship in any industry, not only sports. This blog is here to provide you with practical insights and guidance on how to secure internships in the sports industry. From researching potential opportunities to crafting compelling application materials, we’ll help you navigate the competitive landscape and increase your chances of securing valuable internships. So, if you’re ready to unlock exciting opportunities and gain hands-on experience in the sports industry, read on and discover the essential steps to kick-start your journey!

Here’s what you need to do to get a good internship:

Sports Jobs and Internships
  1. Finish your degree: In today’s time the value of marks and grades may not seem like a lot however it does matter. With the increase in demand for jobs/internships, some companies may consider your grades at the degree level. You learn skills like leadership, communication, teamwork, etc in your university and some of those soft skills are more important than your marks. So make sure you not only gain exposure but make tons of connections too. A bachelor’s degree might boost your chances of landing an internship in this sector. During your undergraduate education, you may study communications, marketing, business, sports management, or a related field. The subject you study can impact the sort of internships available to you, so select a major that interests you. Additionally doing a master’s program also can add to your resume and separate you from the rest of the applicants. However that may not be a requirement for every place, so definitely choose what feels right to you.
  1. Create a standout CV: Your CV is what shows your potential, and identity before the employer speaks/meets you. It reflects your achievements and skills that make you stand out from other applicants. Making your CV stand out is your responsibility if you really want the job.  A few websites, such as Novoresume, Canva, and Zety, let users format their resumes in a way that looks good.   Even while having a nice-looking resume could be beneficial, make sure it is customized for each application you submit.  Your resume and CV should use the same language found in the job description and emphasize the skills and experience listed for the position.  Put down everything you have done, it doesn’t matter how big or small it was. Your participation, learnings, and involvement count more.

Some important sections to have in your resume include:

  • Education, including GPA
  • Skills
  • Work experience
  • Extracurricular activities
  1. Reach out to employers: Once you have your CV  and are ready to start applying, do thorough research as to what job roles are more in demand. Apply to multiple places and do not hesitate to reach out to employers via LinkedIn or emails.  If you are eyeing an internship as a sports content writer, reach out to both small and big firms. Be up to date with information about your field and what you can do to improve.  Get in touch with the teams or agencies you wish to work with early on since the competition is always rising. While you are looking for a role perfect for you, gaining experience on the side is not a bad thing. You can freelance or just help people out for free wherever you can, and do everything you can to connect to potential clients. You can also brush up on some skills or courses on the side as well.
  1. Have a strong cover letter: When applying for sports internships, it is crucial to craft a strong cover letter that accompanies your resume. It provides an opportunity to express your interest in the job, showcase your skills, and highlight why you are a suitable candidate. A well-written cover letter can make a lasting impression on potential employers and help you differentiate yourself from other applicants.

When writing your cover letter, make sure to address it to the hiring manager by name. Keep the letter concise and focused, and directly align it with the specific job by incorporating relevant keywords. For instance, if you are applying for an internship with your favorite cricket team, mention your passion for the sport and how your admiration for the team’s accomplishments has fueled your desire to pursue a career in cricket. By making this personal connection, you can demonstrate your genuine interest and potentially influence the hiring manager’s decision.

Remember, a strong cover letter serves as a powerful tool to capture the attention of employers and make a compelling case for why you are the ideal candidate for the internship.

  1. Prepare for the interview:  If you have managed to secure an interview, then firstly congratulations, and now it’s time to buckle up. Being called for an interview does not guarantee you a position in your dream company. It is smart to be prepared for whatever they may ask to get you to know better and decide if you are fit for the role. Make time to work on your personal “elevator pitch.”  This should be a two-minute or shorter summary of your qualifications, experiences, motivation for applying for the job, and what you can provide to the company.  To be confident you can talk clearly and fluently, practice and set a timer.  Be ready for whatever type of question an interviewer may ask. Here are some questions to help you prepare:
  • Why do you want to work here?
  • Tell us about a challenging experience you overcame.
  • How does this position align with your future goals?
  • What position do you generally take while working in a team?
  • Can you give an example of a time when you worked effectively in a team?
  • Do you have any questions for us?

An internship will provide you with a leg up over your competitors. With so many fresh graduates attempting to break into the field, having an excellent internship on your resume will offer you an immediate advantage.

It is not as difficult as everyone makes it out to be, you just need to persist and keep at it. Make connections on the way, learn to better yourself, and do not be afraid to ask questions to people. The sports industry is a wonderful place to be in, there are many opportunities available and positions opening up. You can keep an eye on sites like Internshala, LinkedIn, Indeed, and even company websites mention on their ‘careers’ or ‘teams’ page.

Choosing a career in the sports industry allows you to combine your love for sports with your professional skills, creating a fulfilling and enjoyable work experience. From professional sports teams and leagues to sports marketing agencies, event management companies, and sports media organizations, there are many opportunities to pursue.

Studying abroad has become the ‘it’ thing for the current generations! And we are sure nobody is complaining about it, well except their parents! Going Study abroad has a lot of pros like getting exposure to different cultures, becoming independent, and adulting by yourself but also has cons like living alone, financial pressure, studying-managing home balance, etc. You are quite literally outside of your comfort zone and have no option but to make the best of it!  This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that can change their lives for the better! So wouldn’t it be helpful if you know early on some of the do’s and don’ts that can make this journey a little easier?

Do’s:

  1. Research very well: We spoke about this in our ‘Your guide to studying abroad’ blog as well, that’s how important it is! When we say research everything we do not only mean the college and the program, but small details like the culture, weather, location, tourist attractions, kind of people there, and things like that. You may/ may not have lectures every day, so it is essential that there are at least a few things in the city you enjoy for leisure. Take a look at the ranking of the course in general and for your subject, talk to the faculty there, and if possible the alumni too! Collecting this information will make it easier for you to decide on a college.
  1. Start early: If you have always wanted to go abroad, then you may have done some research and got your documents, marks, finances, etc in order early on. But if that’s not the case, then we recommend starting at least 3-4 months before you have to fill out applications. Take this time to gather all the documents you need, and give the required tests like GRE/ IELTS/SAT, etc. Trust us, doing this will reduce the overwhelming feeling when it all piles up.
  1. Make backup plans- Rejection is always devastating and can undermine your confidence. However, giving up is not an option. One should always have a backup plan of action in place since you cannot predict which doors will open and which will not. If one door closes, another will open, but how can you know when you’ll be able to knock? You should not put all of your eggs in one basket because one bad experience does not necessarily indicate the end of your journey.

If a UK institution rejects your application today, it does not mean you are completely out of possibilities for Study abroad other universities around the world; always set up backup plans so you can be prepared. If you are applying to highly competitive universities, like IVY colleges, or reputable universities like Oxford, UCL, MIT, etc then definitely have a backup plan. There are students from all over the globe eyeing that spot and only the best get in. Make sure you are positive about your application but don’t be overconfident. Whatever is best for you will happen.

Dont’s :

  1. Don’t try to copy/imitate others: There are so many other opportunities in life where you can imitate or do something just cause ‘someone’ else did. This is not one of those. Going abroad should only be your decision to make, right from the university you choose to the program, make sure it is for your betterment. Don’t make any choices just to impress someone, justify yourself, rebel, imitate, or for any other reason. It may seem all easy and dreamy in your head but when it comes to living and studying what you don’t like for a year it is not easy. You will end up having a bad time and complaining at every point after you have paid so much!
  1. Don’t treat it like a vacation: We agree that going someplace new warrants exploration, photos, relaxation, etc. But do not forget your main reason to be there- your studies! Learn to create a balance between academics and exploring your city, to make the most of your time there. Maybe create a reward system- studying for xyz hours and making memories for x number of hours! Traveling will teach you things you didn’t know you needed. When studying abroad, not everyone has the resources or the opportunity to travel. Make sure you devote enough time to your study.
  1. Don’t assume:  When we say this, we mean DO NOT assume ANYTHING! Please don’t assume you will have it easy, don’t assume your visa is guaranteed, and don’t assume you are alone in this either! There are tons of students going to the same country as you, talk to them, share your concerns, and find solace in being together on the same boat. Never be afraid to ask for help, your university will definitely have a support group for international students. Being away from home is difficult and they understand that. Similarly do not think that your visa is guaranteed just cause you got into a university. Once you receive your acceptance letter, you should begin applying for your visa sincerely and maintain regular communication with the Embassy of the nation to which you applied. There are many cases where students don’t receive their visa on the first go, so don’t assume you will get it easily.

There are tons of things that can go wrong, so be prepared with a backup for everything small! It helps if you have an agency looking out for you, and guiding the process then it does get fairly easy on. And if you are looking for one, we got you! Unified Sports caters to all your needs so write from building your CV to visa, we do our best to get you the best!

You could look at a variety of sports work opportunities that can provide you with both financial and personal satisfaction, depending on your skills and objectives. Sports provide numerous avenues for employment for all young talents.

In a country as diverse and sports-crazed as India, where passion for competition runs deep, the question of which sports command the highest paychecks lingers in the minds of many. From cricket’s stratospheric rise to the emergence of new sporting frontiers, India’s sports industry is constantly evolving, offering lucrative opportunities for athletes who excel in their respective fields.

So which are the most popular sports in India, while also being Highly Paid?

Cricket Sports
  1. Well, one sport that Indians truly love is Cricket! And the proof is the craze behind every match, whether domestic or international, IPL or Ranji trophy, the support is always in huge numbers! So without a doubt,

Cricket is the number one highly-paid sport in India. Since there are a majority of leagues and championships played for this sport, the effect it has on the masses is also high. When it comes to monetary benefits, cricket is unrivaled in the Indian sporting world.

The Indian Premier League (IPL), a spectacular T20 cricket extravaganza, has transformed and commercialized cricket in India. The league’s large media rights, corporate sponsorships, and team ownership partnerships have resulted in massive compensation packages for players. Domestic and international cricketers with the highest incomes, supplemented by brand endorsements and appearance fees, demand astonishing salaries.

From the likes of Sachin and Ganguly to Virat Kohli and Shubhman Gill, generations of cricketers have managed to make a spot in everyone’s heart, not only for themselves but for the sport too! So if you/your child is planning on building a career in sports then definitely keep cricket on your list.

Badminton Sports
  1. Badminton: India’s badminton scene has witnessed a meteoric rise in recent years, thanks to the stellar performances of players like Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu. These trailblazers have brought glory to the nation and paved the way for enhanced financial prospects for badminton players.  Their success at international events, including winning medals at the Olympic Games, has not only brought immense pride to the nation but has also sparked a surge in interest and support for the sport. As a result, badminton has witnessed a substantial increase in popularity, leading to enhanced financial prospects for players. The growing popularity of badminton has attracted corporate sponsorships and endorsements from renowned brands. Companies recognize the marketability and potential of these exceptional athletes, leading to lucrative endorsement deals and financial partnerships.

Moreover, prestigious tournaments like the BWF World Championships and the BWF Super Series offer substantial prize money, providing additional financial incentives for talented shuttlers to compete at the highest level. With the rise of leagues like the Premier Badminton League (PBL), players now have more opportunities to showcase their skills, gain exposure, and secure substantial contracts. If badminton is a sport that excites you, then here are a few reasons why you should consider it:

  • Highest-paid badminton players in India: Srikanth Kidambi and PV Sindhu
  • Second most played sport in the world too
Kabaddi
  1. Kabaddi: While other sports in India, such as badminton and hockey, would have finished third a few years ago, kabaddi has resumed its status as the country’s third most popular sport. Kabaddi has returned to the mainstream among traditional Indian sports, thanks to the unexpected formation of the Pro-Kabaddi League, which is held yearly in many sites around India. Kabaddi is well-positioned to grow its audience in rural areas due to its obvious appeal and the development of new viewers who are constantly learning more about the sport, as well as the creation of a strong viewer base and a group of interested sponsors. Until 2017, India has won every Kabaddi World Cup.

It wouldn’t come as a surprise to you, that cricket still owns the lion’s share of sports revenues in India. With us being such a cricket-heavy country, it’s really hard for other sports to break through. But in recent years, that notion has changed a bit, with kabaddi through PKL emerging as the 2nd most watched sport in India, and Badminton having a few renowned players of its own. A close look at the table above, tells us a story, that things are still lopsided towards cricket, but other sports are fighting for space too. Given the rise of mobile internet and devices within the country, it is only natural for people to stumble upon alternatives.

So to conclude and state the obvious, if you want money and fame, cricket is still that door in sports for India. It is the best-paid sport and by a long margin too at that. Badminton and Kabbadi are still light years behind, but at least now they have arrived at a checkpoint, where they have started to get noticed.

Today, there are so many wonderful platforms that can help you achieve this milestone! Playing for your country, walking out donning that blue jersey, and hearing the crowd chant ‘INDIA, INDIA’ will always be the biggest dream for any upcoming cricketer.

Cricket is not just a sport in India but a true emotion people connect with deeply, they not only respect the players but also the game. It is not just about creating records, but also about how long have you left an imprint on their minds! Children from a very young age start impersonating their most loved cricketer, it may be Dhoni, Sachin, Virat, or Smriti, Shefali, or Mithali!

They are inspired to dream big when they see Dhoni finishing off matches in style, Virat’s aggression and passion for the game, and remember Sachin for bringing India on the map. It’s time to help them transform their passion, enthusiasm, and zeal into reality!

If your child not only enjoys watching the game but also loves playing and wishes to make a profession out of it, then this blog will help you figure out how to become a cricketer in India.

To start with, like any dream, becoming a cricketer also takes a lot of dedication, effort, discipline, and belief. You must put in countless hours of practice, trust your process and keep improving yourself every step of the way.

In this post, you’ll learn how to become a cricket player
1) Join a cricket academy
2) Look out for a supportive coach
3). Join your school or college team
4) Be available for state or district-level selections

There is a narrow line between adoring and being passionate about a game, the latter is what you need to establish a career in a certain field. There are a few skills you must possess if you plan on playing professionally for your country, like:

  •  Your hand-eye coordination is remarkable
  • You have excellent adaptability
  • You have good flexibility
  • Are a hard worker and determined to succeed
  • Your core strength and cardiovascular health are exceptional
  • You know your strengths and build on it
  • Are clear about the basic and technical knowledge of the game

A step-by-step on how to become a cricket player:

1) Join a cricket academy:

If you want to be one of the men/women in blue, the first step is to enroll in a cricket academy. Learning from a competent coach can help you become acquainted with the exposure required to excel in this industry.

They assist players in being equipped with essential cricket tips and tricks. Aside from that, the coach’s experience adds brownie points to the challenging journey.

Be sure to go for the best cricket academy in your neighborhood, they will help you showcase your strengths and challenge all of your weaknesses.

In addition, by joining a professional academy, you will be surrounded by competitive teammates who will challenge you to perform better every day.

2) Look out for a supportive coach:

Have you ever wondered why cricket players have such a good rapport with their coaches? This is because coaches not only support you get acquainted with the sport, but they also push you past your limitations so that everyone can discover that hidden personality, which was previously only evident to experienced eyes.

Conduct a thorough check on your coach before deciding which one to hire. Various retired cricketers frequently take up careers as coaches, either at academies or on their own.

And if you are not sure what a ‘good coach’ is like, check out our blog here that will guide you in appointing the best out there!

3). Join your school or college team:

Apart from your coaching, joining these teams will give you important playing opportunities. The more games you play, the better you get. Even Smriti Mandhana, the best female international cricketer, believes that school is the best time for aspiring cricketers.

The scope of sports in educational institutions with clubs and academies is continually expanding. You should take advantage of this opportunity by being picked for school or college cricket teams.

It also gives you an upper hand in this situation and then you can start playing for a team that plays for various private cricket tournaments.

4) Be available for state/district level selections:

Gaining recognition in the cricketing field starts once you start playing for your state/district as a cricket player. Prestigious tournaments like Ranji trophy, Dilip trophy, and Vijay Hazare trophy selections are also a great way for a cricket player to get noticed. The road to selection is not a cakewalk; extensive training as a cricket player needs to be done regularly over a long period of time. Several more aspiring cricket players aim to feature in the starting 11 and make their mark on the field.

During the whole thing, one may come across less or more experienced competitors. Your courage can be seen by exceeding everyone else and displaying genuine capability. You have to show why you are better than the next person!

Becoming a professional player: Post all these selections you go ahead and play the IPL or the World Cup for under 16/19 as applicable. Your selections for that depend on how well you performed in your district/state matches. IPL is a huge platform that has garnered international recognition, becoming a part of any franchise there also ensures you heaps of learning opportunities.

Lastly, keep playing every chance you get, because that is what makes you better. No amount of learning comes close to what you get through the experience. The scorecard will always determine whether you’re eligible for the National team.

All you need to do is practice hard, use proper technique, and believe in yourself. The results will follow. Don’t lose hope, sometimes it takes years to play for your country and sometimes you start as young as 19 years!

Since you play, observe, listen, and understand some of the finest cricketing legends during your time there! Once you display your ability, talent, and overall performance you get noticed and slowly build on that.

Inidan Crickert players

Many many players like Tilak Verma. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubhman Gill, etc have been selected based on their performance in these tournaments or World Cups games. Suryakumar Yadav played his first international match at the age of 31 while Yashasvi played the U19 WC! It’s all a culmination of luck, skill, talent, and timing! Have a clear goal, be disciplined, and just keep pushing, you’ll get there! We believe in you!

If you’re a budding cricket player seeking suggestions, guidance, or assistance with coaches/academies, remember that you always have a reliable source to turn to (Ps. It’s us!).
